My Trip
All in all, I had an amazing time, I wouldn't recommend my hotel though, it was too costly for the crappy area and service and rooms that you got. I enjoyed everything that i got to see...I have a feeling i'm missing some stuff in my list of activities that i did, but it's hard to remember everything..i got over 200 pics..lol so everyone will see em at our next girls weekend. the weather was great, 74 degrees and sunny on wednesday, and 55 and sunny the rest of the days which was fine. I got to eat my street pretzels which are my fave lol, but the little birds were harassing me. they come right up to your feet.
I had a storey, on the thursday i was walking past a museum and this squirrel came right at me..so i stopped walking and it stopped, i'd take a step and it'd take a step closer! lol so i have to get up on this very high curb thing that lines a garden to pass this damn squirrel, it slouched on the ground and stalked me for a while..turns out i got between it and a ritz cracker and it really really wanted that cracker! lol little children and their parent's were laughing at me! lol
than on saturday when i was at union station, some man was walking with a bunch of his friends, and i was behind them, well he walked into a glass door..and i killed myself laughing at him..i didn't even try hiding it..he didn't like that too much ! lol
some homeless man with no teeth and carrying arounda brown bag with liquor in it called me the most "beautfil woman he's ever seen" lol i decided to take that as a compliment! lol
and than the night that i went down to the hotel bar, there were two older men in there..trying to tell me they were tour guides and they'd give me a "free tour if i know what they mean" lol i was like "um i'll be right back, gonna go to the gift shop for a second.." than i never went back lol damn creepy people!!!
Wednesday
Wake up, go outside and wait for hotel shuttle. Men keep honking and waving at me, asking me "how you doin?" lol I think they thought i was an early morning hooker! made my way to the Washington Monument, went to the top, which was neat. It's 555 Ft tall, your ears pop as you go up, it takes over a minute to get to the top in an elevator.
Afterwords i go to the Smithsonian Natural History museum, where the giant elephant roars at me and i scream and jump, embarassing myself even more!!! I go through the museum which is very interesting..too much to list..but i did manage to walk past a few tarantulas..lol which was horrible for me..they had one out and was feeding it and i almost past out...
I than made my way to the Pavillion at the Old Post office where one street vendor yelled something disgusting at me, and where the security guard harassed me and followed me for a date. I went to the top of the Old Clock Tower which was neat, very nice views, than i enjoyed live music with my lunch. I ended up buying the man's c.d, it live performance was great, his name is KUKU.
I make my way through one building, the Jefferson Building, at the LIbarary of Congress, saw the Gutenburg Bible, and the Huge Library, it has the largest library in the world. Saw some amazing editorial cartoons by Herb Block, you should check him out, they were great, but i could take any pictures of them..
I left and went to Ford's Theatre where Lincoln was shot, and than across the street to Patterson House, where he eventually died. Very interesting buildings.
I than went to the National Archives and viewed the Magna Carta and the Declaration of Independence and Bill of Rights. Very hard to see these documents b/c of the lights and bazillion layers of glass..but interesting none the less...i eventually make my way back to the hotel
Thursday
I wake up, eat McDonalds, than go down near the Whitehouse. I see the outside of the OCtagon House, cause i can't go inside b/c of renovations. I try to get into the Red Cross, but am stopped by security, apparently you can't go inside..lol than i visit the Daughters of the American Revolution Museum, which was really neat. They have dozens of period rooms sponsered by different states, they are very well done, and there is a plaque in the elevator dedicated to Josiah Bartlett, who was a signer of the Declaration of Independence, and the name of the President on the West Wing..lol so that was fun, i than make my way back for lunch and i am pushed to the ground by some man very hard. My cheek and knee were swollen and my knuckles were all bloody, and my vest was torn, but that was the worst of it..he couldve gotten away with my purse or worse.
Had lunch than went for a tour of Decateur House, which was interesting cause you got to see first hand the example of Urban slavery, which was something I never knew anything about. I really enjoyed it, and the girl who did the tour was incredibly nice. After i went past the white HOuse and the Church of the Presidents, and the Old Executive Office buildings, and Made my way to Chinatown, which wasn't particularly interesting. Afterwords i went througha sculpture garden behind one of the Smithsonian Museums and made my way to the hotel for the night, which on the way home, i had the right of way and was crossing the street and some woman almost ran me over, and i lost my temper and yelled at her and said "Dont you wave your hand at me, i have the f*cking right of way!" i was a little upset following my spill on the road, that i wasn't taking shit from no one!! lol
Friday
Woke up..so sore..my hand hurts, and my knee barely bends. I eat breakfast at McDonalds cause it's cheap lol, than i get on the subway, than train and make my way to the National Arboretum, which is so incredibly beautful this time of the year. All the trees were orange and yellow, and it was the perfect temperature, however, i didn't realize how big the place was, 444 acres, and i stupidly thought i could walk it..lol but i couldn't only do part of it. However I did check out the Japanese and Chinese Gardens, which were nice!
I tried to get on the bus again, but i got on the wrong one and ended up lost in bad part of town. Had to pay some woman two dollars to give me directions to the metro!!! lol, thani went to Georgetown where i enjoyed my delicious lunch of Tomato Basil Soup and Chicken Salad Croissant. If anyone ever ends up in Georgetown I recommend La Madeleine, it is so damn good...after lunch i took a stroll down to the WAshington Harbour, and took some pictures of the Kennedy Centre and Watergate Hotel, than i made my way back up to M and WIsconsin and did some window shopping.
I than headed off to Dupont Circle where i strolled down Embassey Row and looked at all the Embassies, they were gorgeous and the area was nice...i than went back to Dupont Circle, where i made the mistake of wandering into a Gay Male Erotica Store..that was slightly awkward!! lol the look on my face, i can only imagine! I went to another bookstore which was safe lol and found my unisex gift for the xmas xchange, after that i went to the National Geographic Museum and looked at all the amazing photographs around the building! I then went home and had my ghetto KFC meal..lol bullet proof glass, and air tight chambers that they pass the food through!!
Saturday
So I woke up after having a nice ten hour sleep..even though it was interuppted by the continuing sound of sirens and horns honking..got dressed and showered and checked out..had my McDonalds Breakfast where the man that i have seen every morning since thursday gave me the "Hey Not sure if your a hooker but i'll take my chances" smile...ate got downtown and went to the Hirshorn Museum, it's a sculpture museum and modern art museum...left and went to union station, did a little window shopping and ate my favourite shroom deep dish pizza, went to chinatown, than the National GAllery of Art, than i went to the airport way to early, but there was nothing else to do..had to tip a man to carry my bag across a sidewalk to the baggage check terminal, even though i didn't want him too...i'm not completely useless..lol took the shuttle to Terminal B cause my terminal, A, is crappy and has nothing there to do. Did some shopping, than came back and read for a bit and flew out...got to detroit, got my bag and waited for Robert Q to take me home...I was incredibly tired by this point, i slept through most of the flight and the Robert Q ride home..than i went to bed at 1:30 and stayed asleep for 12 hours...
