Another Girl's Weekend Update

So friday vicki, britt and i began our monthly girl's weekend, we had tickets to Bayfest for friday night to see Everclear and Collective Soul...it was hot...swamp ass hot..i had swamp ass from the back of my neck to my toes..it was really gross out...there were three opening bands, which weren't too bad, and than Everclear came on..and than it started to spit out, which wasn't bad, it actually felt really nice..than it started to rain harder, and harder..lol but still were weren't complaining, except i made it very clear i wasn't going to the bar that night, cause i was sure i was looking like a drag queen with my mascara running..and than a guy i went to high school with started chatting with me, and he may or may not have offered us weed ;)...lol anyways..by the end of the Everclear set it was pouring, than it started to thunderstorm, and we decided we didn't want to wait for Collective Soul, and die in the process so we left, and it poured, every inch of us was wet..right down to the underwear, and we fell into a foot and half deep puddle, than when we were walking back to the car, another car on the road hit a huge puddle, and it showered us from head to toe, and there's nothing like dirty puddle street water to make you feel sexy..lol so we went back to vicki's place, ordered pizza and watched family guy...

Than saturday we went shopping in the states, and while we were over there, the border crossing guy informed us that we came over too much and we should buy these Nexus passes, so that we don't have to wait for an hour on the bridge, but i just thought it was creep that they knew the last time we all came over..lol than we went shopping and i bought some trampy tops, we came back to canada, had dinner, played a Family Guy drinking game, than went to the bar for a bit..and that was the gist of my weekend with the girls, shopping and boozing!

The LONG Awaited Blog!

Yup - it's me!! It's been a while...my slacker ways caught up with me something fierce!! However...better late than never.

So here's my story...

My Job:
Work is going well - I really like what I'm doing and really like the people I work with - we have some good times and good laughs - but as per every office we have our stressful times too - but so far so good - and hey - I've lasted 3 months so far - so that's saying something!! haha

Ottawa:
The wedding in Ottawa this past weekend was so nice!! I went with my sister -she was a good date!! lol It was a small wedding - only about 30 people went - it was at a really nice restaurant downtown - we ate from like 7pm to 10pm lol - there was no dance - just dinner - but it was nice - got to hang out with the family. My stepmom only embarassed me once...story time?? I think so. So we were at this table with the bride's aunt and uncle whom we have never met before. The story of my nephew comes up (long story short - he went camping with his dad, had a swiss army knife in his bag, forgot to take it out, took it to school, knife fell out, police were called...) So my stepmom decided that this would be appropriate dinner talk with strangers...who had the total opposite opinion to hers. (mind u her opinion was...but he's 7! and he's my grandson! He would never do anything with it to hurt anyone! If they only knew him and used common sense...yadda yadda.) meanwhile the couple at our table were like - yes..but there is a zero tolerance rule in effect for a reason and my stepmom basically just kept saying over and over - but he's 7. and then the guy went into a story about how a 7 year old cut the brake lines to his wife's car with a knife he brought to school. But anways - this argument went on for like 20 mins - I'm getting really pissy cause it was so stupid in the first place - and my dad finally had to raise his voice to make her stop (which he never does) so it was interesting...needless to say - conversation after that was pretty awkward. oi. But the rest of the wedding was good and the bride and groom looked ever so happy together!! :)

And that's about it...pretty sad for like a 3 month absence lol - but I skipped a lot of the day to day stories. Anywho - almost time for lunch...lol yeah I'm doing this at work...employee of the year here I come!! haha

My Trip to Washington D.C

was pretty eventful....I managed to survive a few flashfloods, mudslides, tornadoes, and a State of Emergency...so here's how my week went

Monday-Woke up at 4:00 am to catch Robert Q Airbus to Detroit, where i waited for five hours before my flight, which they changed the gate four times, from Gate 4 to Gate 73 (like a half hour walk away)..during my wait i was watching CNN where they keep talking about this horrible flooding in the Northeast and sure enough...Washington D.C, Maryland and Virgina(which surround D.C) where hit hard...I fly into D.C and get to my hotel in Cheverly Maryland, to find out the hotel got flooded too...I got to my room which was nice...and unpacked, but before i went to bed that night, i touched the wall of my room and it was soaked, so was the carpet..my room was flooding with me in it! lol so they changed rooms..anyways i didn't have anything planned for monday so i watched t.v and the only thing on was news..and every channel kept talking about the floods and storms and missing persons..and how some of the Smithsonian Museums were closed adn the Metro(subway) was closed..so that was a stressful evening, i'm all upset cause i'm not sure i can do anything because of the weather..

Tuesday- Wake up at 7:00, get ready adn eat breakfast and catch the 9:00 shuttle to the Cheverly Metro Station..it's like a 100 degrees plus humidity..and it's raining and storming off and on...I go the the Holocause Museum..which was fantastically well done....very heart breaking and informative..I spend two hours in the Holocause exhibit..than i walk up to the Washington Monument, than the World War II Monument, walk past the Reflecting Pool and make my way up to the Lincoln Memorial in the incredible heat...i was drenched with sweat and i wasn't doing anything strenuous..i went to the Vietnam Memorial, and than made my way back to the Smithsonian Museums where i found out the Smithonsonian Natural History, American History, Archives, and National Art Gallery are all closed...i walk around D.C, finding my way to Ford's Theatre (closed) and around some other Federal Buildings..than i Head back because more storms are rolling in..they have tornadoes in maryland (where i was) and the mayor of D.C declares a State of Emergency cause the storms are still supposed to keep coming, but all the rivers have reached their peak....and dams are reading to burst.

Wednesday--wake up, get ready and go to the White House and the Renwick Gallery of Art before heading off to Georgetown, it's hot out, about 100 again, but the sun's out and there's a nice breeze..i walke along the C & O Canal, which is very nice, so is Georgetown, it's absolutly beautiful, stop at The Old Stone House, supposed to be the oldest house in the entire area, eat lunch than walk up hill to The Tudor Mansion, Martha Washington's Granddaughters mansion, take a tour of the house and gardens, than head back and go tothe Georgetown Mall, but don't do any shopping...head back to D.C and go to the Bertoldi Fountain (the man who designed the Statue of Liberty) and the Smithsonian Botanical Garden, and walk around the State Capitol, than decide after i get my second wind to walk to the Jefferson Memeriol, i make it to the tidal basin, but the Memorial is too far away..so i head back to the hotel for the night

Thursday--wake up go to the Washington Cathederal (7th largest Catherdial in the world) it's beautiful, do a tour there...than go to Dupont Circle, where they have trendy shops and stores and restaurants..than head back and go to the National Gallery of Art which has finally opened...and look around...i head back to the hotel early cause i'm doing a night tour which starts at 8:00pm..where go see Iwo Jima memorial..which is beautiful than we went to the white house and korean and vietnam memorial and Lincoln Memorials, we drive past Watergate and some other impressive bulidings, i don't get back until 11:30, andi have to be up at 6:00 to catch my cab back to the airport....

all in all despite the weather i had fun...the museums all opened on Friday when i left (go figure) except the Archives which sustained about 2million dollars worth of damage..9 people died in total along the Northeast coast..it was very scary being there alone....however, despite the damage you couldn't really tell that much was wrong in D.C..i had a blast and I don't regret going for one bit...i walked about 10-12 miles each day...and managed to actually gain 6 pounds..lol only i could do that! I'll post pictures in a bit..i have many!
